Pushing Past Perceived Problems Posthaste
Look. I know we all want to be Eddie, Tosin, or Tim. We’ve got so many heroes to look up to these days it kind of makes your head spin a little. I try really hard to steer folks away from comparing themselves to their heroes in any meaningful way because all it really leads to is frustration. It’s really easy to feel bad about your own skills when you’re comparing yourself to the best players in the world.
Comparison is truly the thief of joy.
The ONLY person you’re competing against is yourself when it comes to making improvements on guitar, and the people who you see as above your skill level are often the ones that will offer you the most significant encouragement. Don’t listen to people who try to make you feel bad. We’re all at our own place in our journey, and it’s silly to think that there’s a certain time by which you’re required to complete a specific task. Have. Fun. That’s what matters. That’s why we do this. Focus on mastering yourself. The rest well come!
All the best,
Josh
